Program description

Our BA (Hons) Fashion Atelier & Tailoring degree will prepare you to create exquisite custom-made clothing and to work at the highest level of the fashion industry.

The School of Fashion at UCA is known throughout the world for generating brilliant graduates, and this course will provide you with the specialized knowledge needed to produce extraordinary fashion items.

You will gain the specialized creative abilities and knowledge required for bespoke tailoring, couture-inspired fashion, and contemporary design for the modern wardrobe, in addition to learning draping, creative pattern-cutting, machine, and hand-sewing techniques.

In our fashion program, you'll find the facilities that are up to industry standards that you need to hone your craft and explore your interests. You'll also receive support from a group of highly qualified faculty members and visiting practitioners who will assist you in building a variety of practical and transferable skills that have real industry value.

Along with hands-on training, you'll have the chance to complete a work placement that improves your resume and gets you ready for your post-graduation career.

Before beginning your first year of study for a degree, you can also enroll in an international foundation year that focuses on English and essential creative abilities. You can also spend a year on a professional placement to obtain invaluable work experience before moving on to your final year of study.

Fee for two semesters (1 year) is 16,950 GBP for international students

Requirements for applicants

If you do not have qualifications from the United Kingdom, we will accept equivalent qualifications from your native country for admittance into our programs.

In addition to academic credentials, some of our courses require a portfolio of previous work.

For our Bachelor's courses, we usually require that you have:

  • High school leaving certificate or equivalent.
  • A transcript showing successful completion of one year of a Bachelor's degree from a recognised university with CGPA 3.8.

Portfolio requirements

For these course, you must perform an individual piece as an audition. This piece can be up to two minutes long and can be one of the following: a brief modern text (play or screenplay); a short piece of Shakespeare; or an original work you have composed.
