The Law and Society major examines how legal and social policy affects all aspects of life, from human rights, crime, and justice to Indigenous rights, freedom of expression, and religion.
Law and social policy affect our lives nationally and worldwide, according to this major. You'll learn socio-legal principles, apply them, and critique them while exploring fascinating situations. Develop research, teamwork, and communication skills while understanding, applying, and adapting socio-legal principles.
This major complements politics, communications, sociology, culture, economics, and anthropology by focusing on law's social aspects.
Graduates work in corporate, non-profit, and public sectors, including legal policy and research. They may work in law reform, justice agencies, civil and criminal justice systems, government, education, academia, management and human resources, media and communications, industrial relations, human rights, social services, and legal support.

To be considered for admission to this course an applicant must have
- achieved an ATAR of at least 75, or equivalent as recognised by UWA or
- an assured pathway offer or
- achieved a score of at least 100 in UWA's experienced based entry assessment or
- a place in a relevant UWA access program.
English competency
- Minimum overall IELTS score of 6.5, with no band less than 6.0.
