Humans, their environs, and the ever-changing connections between the two can be better understood through the geographical sciences. Climate, landscapes, and human settlements are all aspects of our planet that geographers investigate. Graduates with expertise in geographic information systems (GIS) and remote sensing technologies are in high demand because of the complicated spatial data they can analyze. Opportunities to learn professional communication tactics, such as how to write policy briefs, consultant reports, and give oral presentations, as well as geographic information system (GIS) and field-based data collecting and analysis, are abundant in this major.

Bridging
Bridging units must be successfully completed within the first 48 points of study. Students who have not achieved a scaled mark of at least 50 in Mathematics Methods ATAR or equivalent or higher are required to complete MATH1721 or SCIE1500, (SCIE1500 is recommended). Students who have not achieved a scaled mark of at least 50 in Mathematics Applications ATAR or equivalent or higher are required to complete MATH1720 and either MATH1721 or SCIE1500, (SCIE1500 is recommended). Note: MATH1721 should be taken if also considering majors or minors that require it for progression to level 2 (e.g. Maths, Physics, Chemistry or Computer Science):

To be considered for admission to this course an applicant must have
- achieved an ATAR of at least 75, or equivalent as recognised by UWA or
- an assured pathway offer or
- achieved a score of at least 100 in UWA's experienced based entry assessment or
- a place in a relevant UWA access program.
English competency
- Minimum overall IELTS score of 6.5, with no band less than 6.0.
