Program description
Do you need further preparation for a university legal studies program? Have you given any thought to pursuing a career in law? To students like you, we offer the LLB (Hons) Law with Foundation Year. Students in the Foundation Level receive supplemental instruction in the areas of research, writing, information technology, mathematics, and the law. Your self-assurance in law school will increase as a result.
This program will prepare you for a range of exciting legal occupations in fields including journalism, politics, law enforcement, education, and more if you want to become a solicitor or barrister. Our law foundation course is open to anyone, so you don't have to have a certain vocation in mind to join us. You'll figure out what areas of law interest you most over your first few years of study.
In response to developments in the UK professional law qualification system, we have updated our LLB degree with foundation year entrance, which is offered at our UK study centers and online. If you wish to practice law as a barrister, you'll need to study for the SQE 1 and then do the Bar Practice Course. If you live in a common law jurisdiction other than the UK, you should consider taking electives in EU and international law.

Requirements for applicants
- At least 3 x GCSEs or equivalent that are less than 3 years old, or
- At least 3 x GCSEs or equivalent, over 3 years old, with an accompanying CV.
We are happy to consider an application from you if you can show us you have the motivation to study this LLB degree, even if you do not currently meet our standard entry requirements. We’ll ask you for a personal statement that demonstrates your ability to study the course, as well as references and evidence of relevant experiences and/or previous qualifications.
Exemptions may be granted in respect of other prior qualifications subject to Arden’s APCL regulations.
English proficiency
- IELTS 5.5 (no less than 5.0 in any element); or TOEFL iBT 80; or equivalent
- Alternatively, evidence you have previously studied in English, such as a letter to show that the Medium of Instruction was in English can be accepted.
