Program description

With a degree in BMus (Hons) Popular Music Performance, you may forge an exciting path in the live music industry. If you're a bassist, drummer, guitarist, keyboardist, or singer who wants to level up your technical, performance, and musicianship skills, this is the course for you.

Core elements of performance, technique, musicianship, theory, and technology are all brought together in this program to help you hone your craft.

Our extensive selection of elective modules will allow you to further personalize your education to your individual aesthetic and professional goals. Included are emphases on such sub-genres as songwriting, composition, arranging, and live performance. The skills and determination you gain will serve you well in any musical endeavor.

There is a wide variety of skilled people at BIMM, and you'll have plenty of opportunity to work with them. Also, you'll be performing quite a bit. You and your classmates will get to play in front of an audience. Our BIMM professors will be on hand to offer critiques and suggestions throughout these shows.

Our course instructors are all seasoned, in-demand professionals whose knowledge and insight will prove invaluable to your academic development throughout the duration of the program.

Daily instruction will take place in our state-of-the-art large live venues, smaller studio settings, and lecture-based classes.

Tuition fees

  • 15,950 GBP/year

All international students must pay a deposit in order to secure their place on the course they have applied for. Deposit amounts will depend on if you are self-funded or if you have secured financial aid or a loan.

  • Self-funded international students: 4,000 GBP
  • Funded international students: 1,000 GBP

The deposit amount is deductible from your total fees.

Requirements for applicants

  • Successful completion of a BIMM admissions assessment.
  • Minimum of 2 A-levels at Grade E or above (32 UCAS points), OR BTEC Level 3 equivalent, and normally three GCSEs at a minimum grade C/4, including English Language.
  • IELTS 6.0 with a minimum of 5.5 to be achieved.
