Program description
Psychological, biological, and societal/environmental influences on health and health-related behavior are the primary areas of study in Health Psychology. Psychologists who specialize in health psychology work to enhance people's mental and physical health by helping them recognize and cope with the emotional and psychological challenges associated with making positive lifestyle changes. In recent years, there has been a pivot in health policy from curative medicine to preventative care.
Graduates of this Master of Science program will be equipped with specialized psychological knowledge and skills to promote health and well-being in the community. Graduates will be well-prepared for further education and/or professions thanks to the program's focus on the individual student. While some graduates pursue doctoral programs in health psychology, the vast majority enter fields such as health promotion, education, workplace wellness, scientific research, and entrepreneurship.
