Program description
The Foundation course is intended to familiarize you with content that you will study more thoroughly in subsequent years of the Actuarial Science degree programme.
The teaching style for the foundation course differs from that used throughout the degree. The course will have fewer students than the normal degree programme, and there will be more frequent assessments. This will help you transition from the teaching method used in most schools and colleges to the university model, which often demands more self-study.
Compared to other years of your degree, there is no exam time because of the use of continuous assessment in the form of in-class assessments and take-home assignments, which may be both individual and group oriented.
The Foundation Year in Actuarial Science aims to offer students with a solid understanding of Mathematics, Probability and Statistics, Accounting and Finance, Economics, IT, and Computing, allowing them to pursue an undergraduate degree in the field.
