Program description

Journalism, mass communication, and specialized media studies combine advanced professional training with a strong liberal arts background. All students complete a 24-credit core that includes writing, multimedia, and conceptual courses, as well as a capstone project. Students collaborate with their Academic Success Coordinator and Faculty Advisors to pick 22 credits in a specialty area according to their professional goals, including Journalism and Storytelling, Media Production, and Strategic Communication. This flexible curriculum supports the development of a grounding in the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences, as well as in-depth study in a field of interest other than journalism. It is possible to add a minor or double major in fields such as political science, computer technology, history, economics, business, communication studies, psychology, the arts, natural or applied sciences.
