Program description

The undergraduate Civil Engineering program teaches physical sciences, mathematics, engineering basics, design, and management. The All-University Core Curriculum (AUCC) offers a diverse education in communication, liberal arts, humanities, and social sciences. The Civil Engineering curriculum includes design techniques, information technology, technical communications, project management, and engineering ethics in addition to sub-disciplines. A yearlong, term-based senior capstone design experience concludes the curriculum. Focus is on high-level professional practice. Starting with the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) test, civil engineers may become licensed Professional Engineers (PEs). Thus, this major recommends taking the FE test before graduation.

Potential Occupations

CSU's Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering graduates are employed across many organizations, including small and major consulting firms, local, state, and federal government agencies, as well as industrial enterprises in sectors such as construction, petroleum, mining, and aerospace. Civil engineers may also encounter chances in specialized design, research, and academia.
