Program description

Graduates of our engineering program should be prepared to take on leadership roles in cutting-edge technological industries, according to the department's stated mission.

Areas of Study

  • Energy
  • Health
  • Materials

The M.S. in Mechanical Engineering program is an excellent choice for students who are interested in developing their careers in either the research or industrial sectors. In addition to providing excellent classroom education, the curriculum also includes research opportunities. Research is carried out by students under the guidance of a faculty adviser, who is typically the Principal Investigator (P.I.). This research is conducted for a project that is supported by either the government or industry. In combination with the coursework and thesis credits, the student's study culminates in the production of a final thesis as well as an article that is intended to be submitted to a journal that is subject to peer review.
