Program description
The French bachelor program at Drew aims to offer students a comprehensive examination of French and Francophone literature and culture, as well as to accommodate students of all levels of proficiency in the French language.
Popular culture, film, business French, and literature from the 17th to the 21st centuries are all included in our very varied curriculum in French and Francophone studies. Our teachers are either native speakers or have lived and studied in French-speaking countries for an extended period.
The language courses are wholly conducted in French and utilize a wide range of multimedia tools to encourage robust student engagement. The courses in culture and literature are interdisciplinary and concentrate on both the Francophone and French realms. We also provide a variety of English-language courses, including Francophone Literatures in Translation and French and Francophone Women Writers, for individuals who are not Francophone speakers and are interested in French studies.
The majority of majors and minors participate in an interim, semester, or full-year program of study in France or a French-speaking country. Each year, we organize a language program in Paris. Additionally, we maintain an active Francophone Student Association. Film festivals, lectures, and field excursions to New York City comprise its activities.
