Program description
The Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) program equips educators to address the complexities of diverse learners in contemporary classrooms. Teacher candidates engage in clinically intensive coursework across diverse learning environments in both urban and suburban contexts. Faculty mentors urge prospective educators to cultivate their professional networks to facilitate a successful transition into the classroom.
Drew's program culminates in a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) degree, accompanied by certification for teaching in elementary or secondary education. We train secondary education instructors in English, mathematics, science, social studies, foreign languages, and the arts. Candidates may fulfill the program requirements in one year of full-time study or over a duration of two years. Students pursuing elementary K-6 certification may qualify to apply for middle school certification alongside this endorsement.
