Program description
Learners will prepare for entry-level practice in the massage therapy profession with the information, skills, and attitudes that promote patient safety, optimal health, and professional conduct.
Anatomy fundamentals are emphasized extensively, with a focus on their practical application through laboratory and clinical experiences. Students hone their capacity for effective dialogue, critical thinking, and decision making in order to fulfill their legal and ethical responsibilities in accordance with statutory and professional standards. Assessment abilities, business acumen, and self-care practices are also stressed.
The program is based on the Inter-jurisdictional Practice Competencies and Performance Indicators established by the Federation of Massage Therapy Regulatory Authorities of Canada and the Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics established by the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO).
