Program description

One of Ontario's top institutions for justice education is Durham College. Two 14-week semesters comprise the Advanced Law Enforcement and Investigations Graduate Certificate Program, which offers students the chance to acquire pertinent applied skills unique to the justice system.

Participants in this program will:

  • Get expertise addressing organizational and social concerns pertaining to community safety and law enforcement in a society that is becoming more and more diverse.
  • Applying what they have learned in class and gaining invaluable practical experience through two field placements totaling 256 hours with various law enforcement and security-related agencies, in addition to simulated crime scene scenarios.

Requirements for applicants

  • Diploma or degree with an overall grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 or 65 per cent average or A minimum of two years of work experience in a related field detailed in a professional resumé with a letter of intent may be considered
  • English language proficiency
    • Academic IELTS: 6.5, no band score less than 6.0
    • IBT TOEFL: 88, with minimum section scores of 22
    • PTE Academic: 60 minimum overall, no section below 57 L,W,S,R
    • CAEL: Overall score of 70, no section below 70
