Program description
This curriculum is accredited by the Law Society of Ontario (LSO), entitling graduates to apply to sit for the LSO's licensure exam in order to become certified professionals in the paralegal field. The paralegal profession, which is exclusive to Ontario, was developed to offer reasonable legal counsel and access to the court system in certain legal areas before numerous courts and tribunals in the region.
Students with prior post-secondary education or related industry experience are intended for this three-semester program. To supplement classroom instruction, students complete a 240-hour field placement in a government, court, or law firm under the supervision of a certified paralegal or lawyer.
