Program description

The majority of consumer items are developed in a laboratory or industrial setting where the raw material quality is regulated. Chemical laboratory technicians serve chemical manufacturers, cannabis and food component companies, energy producers, and the burgeoning green goods industry by employing testing procedures to ensure quality. The Chemical Laboratory Technician program, one of the few two-year science-based diploma programs at Ontario colleges, will offer you with basic knowledge in many different fields, opening the door to the job of your dreams.

Students spend about half of their course time in laboratories, where they learn to use cutting-edge analytical tools such as gas chromatographs, atomic absorption spectrometers, and fluorometers while also developing essential wet chemistry abilities. Once you've completed the first year, or the entire two-year diploma, you can specialize in a certain field by finishing the remaining curriculum for several of our three-year advanced diplomas.
