Program description
Have you ever taken an elevator or staircase and been curious about how it operates? Who makes them, who makes sure they're built properly, who makes sure people can travel them safely?
Our training will equip you to work as an apprentice in the field of elevating devices technician. Durham Region and the Greater Toronto Area have seen an uptick in elevating devices-related job openings as a result of the construction and renovation of new and existing high-rise structures. You can get the instruction you need to become an apprentice mechanic for elevating devices at Durham College, a public institution.
Successful graduates are excused from the remainder of the classroom instruction for the EDM 636E apprenticeship program. In addition to satisfying the Ministry of Labor's Working at Heights training requirements, graduates will obtain the TSSA-required EDM-T Safety Training certification.
