Program description
Graduates of the Practical Nursing curriculum will be equipped to take on the growing demands of the nursing profession. Using your knowledge, skills, and judgment as a practical nurse, you'll tend to patients across the spectrum of care in a way that's both secure and effective.
The College of Nurses of Ontario recognizes Durham College's Practical Nursing Program. Recent program completers may now submit to the Ontario College of Nurses for RPN certification.

Requirements for applicants
- Matured student status (applicants who are over 19 years old and do not have a high school diploma)
- Grade 12 English (C or U) (minimum 60 per cent)
- Grade 12 mathematics (C, M or U) (minimum 65 per cent)
- Grade 11 or 12 biology (C, M or U)
- Grade 11 or 12 chemistry (C, M or U)
- English language proficiency
- Academic IELTS: 6.0, no band score less than 5.5
- IBT TOEFL: 80, with minimum section scores of 20
- PTE Academic: 53 minimum overall, no section below 49 L,W,S,R
- CAEL: Overall scores of 60 with no section below 60
