Program description
This degree program is designed to prepare students for a range of careers in horticulture and agriculture by providing a course of study that culminates in a recognized degree. With a focus on greenhouse and subtropical and semi-arid crop production, it prepares students to work as extension and production specialists, marketing specialists in the horticulture and food sectors, and horticultural engineering specialists.
Graduates in horticulture are sought after by scientists and researchers, landscapers, horticulture instructors, greenhouse managers, vineyard or orchard managers, crop protection experts, nursery managers, and foreign consultants.
An extensive background in every area of these varied fields is acquired by a graduate of the Horticulture program. Our students obtain expertise through advisor-directed electives after they have mastered the essentials. Students thus gain a thorough understanding of plant physiology, production, use, integrated pest management, irrigation, fertilizer, and business. Our students are exposed to the newest research and technologies in a variety of fields, including biology, engineering, genetics, economics, nutrition, and sociology. They also learn how to apply their knowledge to real-world difficulties and assist people solve problems.
