Program description

Under the supervision of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, the undergraduate Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics program at the European University of Lefke began instruction in the 2021–2022 academic year. The primary objectives of our department are to teach students about human biology and genetics and to conduct comprehensive research into the molecular origins of disorders. Additionally, it is intended to advance science by carrying out research and training focused at resolving issues brought on by illnesses. Together with other fundamental and medical sciences including genetic engineering, microbiology, biochemistry, bioinformatics, and cancer biology, our department conducts research that advances our understanding of diseases and, consequently, public health and social life. In addition to public health and social welfare, these domains are essential for comprehending human disorders. In our department, English is the primary language of instruction.

The Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics strives to produce educators and researchers who can conduct creative and groundbreaking research and analyze conceptual and experimental problems using scientific methods by providing our students with access to education and research opportunities that satisfy international and European standards. Furthermore, one of our top priorities is to attract people who embrace interdisciplinary ideas, possess strong critical thinking and curiosity, are adept at using new technology, and feel a sense of social and professional responsibility.
