Program description
The program's primary goal is to raise public, food industry, and health-related nutrition awareness in a balanced and suitable manner, which is implemented in industries and schools. The goal of our department is to develop skilled personnel in each of these areas.
All male and female high school graduates who have received enough points on the Turkish University Entrance Examination—a requirement set by the department—are eligible to enroll in the Nutrition Dietetics program.
The program's initial stage consists of foundational classes in dietary sciences, nutrition, and health. The field of practice is connected to the second stages of the course. In addition to the theoretical instruction they get in class, students must complete additional training sessions or internships during the summer to hone their skills. At hospitals or other healthcare facilities associated with their field of study, they must put what they have learned in class into practice. Students gain the knowledge, morals, values, and abilities needed to work as dieticians or nutrition specialists as a consequence of this field practice.
A degree in nutrition or dietetics, or the title of dietician, is awarded to all successful graduates. Graduates with success can also pursue graduate or postgraduate degrees in the social sciences or health sciences.
A dietician is included in the group of health services, which also includes related occupations like Nursing, Dentistry, and Medicine.
Graduates may be able to work as dieticians, educators, or rehabilitation specialists in public health, private clinics that focus on mother-infant health, or nursing facilities for the elderly and young. Dieticians can also function as experts or consultants in schools, businesses, and other establishments that provide food for employees and pupils.
All graduates may become a member of the Turkish Dieticians Association established in 1969. The Association is a member of the European Dietetics Associations’ Federation.
