Program description
The PhD program in dentistry with a focus on oral and maxillofacial surgery lasts three years and is full-time. The diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of conditions affecting the head, neck, face, and jaws are the focus of the dental specialty known as oral and maxillofacial surgery. A PhD in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery is a degree that requires extensive study and research in the field of oral and maxillofacial surgery. The specialty of oral and maxillofacial surgery deals with the diagnosis and surgical and adjunctive treatment of disorders, diseases, injuries, and defects that affect the hard and soft tissues of the oral and maxillofacial regions and related structures in both functional and aesthetic ways. Advanced classes in topics including orthodontics, anesthesia, oral and maxillofacial pathology, and surgical methods will be offered to students throughout the program. Under the supervision of a faculty advisor, they will also do in-depth research for a thesis or dissertation.
