Program description
Our five-year undergraduate program culminates in the designation of "Pharmacist" for graduates. The field of pharmacy plays a critical role in managing the growing number of illnesses and ailments brought on by industrialization. It is very crucial that pharmacists receive training in this area because it is one of the primary occupations where specialization has gained prominence recently. In our nation, pharmacists have long been considered the most trustworthy health experts.
Retail Pharmacy is still offering this advisory service to the general public, and more and more pharmacy operating forms with two or more pharmacists on staff are being created as a result of the modifications made to the requirements for launching a drugstore. Due to mounting costs, this manner of business makes it more difficult for retail pharmacists to maintain a positive patient-pharmacist connection and to communicate with patients and provide advice during the growing bureaucracy.
It is a well-known reality, therefore, that there is a dearth of pharmacists with the necessary tools. In this way, pharmacy schools offer the chance to educate skilled pharmacists who will work in the pharmaceutical industry in the future, in drug development and research, in responsible drug use, in fields like cancer where specific applications are needed, in the patient-clinician-specialist pharmacist triangle, and in academia.
Our department offers 300 ECTS worth of courses for undergraduates, including common, required, and elective courses. Apart from receiving a theoretical education, our students will complete their internship in our well-equipped laboratories, as well as at the pharmacies and/or hospitals we have partnered with. During their summer internships, they will also get the chance to put what they have learned into practice. Assessment, grading, and exams are conducted in compliance with the guidelines outlined in the UFU Undergraduate Regulations.
Graduates of this program in pharmacy have the option to pursue employment as health professionals or, if they so choose, additional education.
