Program description
Computer Systems Technology is a three-year curriculum that was developed with substantial input from relevant industries and includes two elective specialties.
- The Networking specialization focuses on network security, voice-over-IP (VoIP) and wireless LANs.
- The Systems specialization focuses on mail server administration, content management systems (Collaboration), database administration and computer security.
Infrastructure virtualization, cloud computing, and IT best practices are fundamental courses in both disciplines.
George Brown College invests in modern networking, wireless, radio frequency, VoIP, and security lab equipment to give students hands-on experience installing and configuring equipment from small offices to enterprise-class hardware and software. Cisco recognized this commitment and the college's hands-on teaching atmosphere by designating it an Area Support Centre and Instructor Training Centre, making it one of Canada's few Cisco Networking Academies.
