Program description
Hospitality and culinary skills change the food industry. This continual change has underscored the need for a more holistic culinary education that allows students to study the food chain while learning a range of methods.
The Honours Bachelor of Food Studies degree prepares future food leaders for this fast-changing sector. It provides food service professionals with extensive career paths and leaders who can succeed in for-profit and nonprofit businesses.
Careers in culinary, education, tourist, recreation, health, food security, sustainability, economic development, agriculture, public policy, and research await graduates. Culinary and critical thinking occupations are expanding.
Toronto's ethnic and Indigenous food traditions make this program special. Students will explore food in a culturally diverse and inclusive classroom and beyond. A paid co-op will apply culinary and food animation talents. Select courses will offer community-engaged learning.

Requirements for applicants
Admission Requirements
- Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent with six grade 12 university (U) or university/college (M) courses, including grade 12 (U) English.
- English grade 12 (U) with a grade of 65 per cent or higher.
- An overall average of 65 per cent in the six grade 12 (U) or (M) courses.
English language proficiency
- George Brown English for Academic Purposes (EAP) Program - Level 9;
- IELTS (Academic) - 6.5, minimum 6.0 in each skill band;
- TOEFL - 84 (online) minimum 21 in each skill band;
- Duolingo English Test - 115;
- MELAB - 80;
- PTE (Academic) - 54, overall minimum, 50 in each skill band;
- CAEL - 60 (overall);
- Cambridge English Exams (B2 First, C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency) - 169 or more (with no individual skill below 162).
