Program description

With the Financial Services - Investment Analysis (B417) program, you can become a professional in the financial services industry. The St. James Campus in downtown George Brown is where this program is held.

If you are planning to sit for the Level I exam offered by the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Institute, this graduate program is your only option in Ontario. Prospective graduates are set on a promising career path that includes positions such as personal banker, fund accountant, stock research analyst, and fixed-income research associate.  

Students may expect to cover a lot of ground in the two terms of this course, from economics and equity investing to portfolio management and ethics and professional standards. 

Earning a Certified Financial Analyst (CFA) designation or any other credential/certification from a professional organization is not guaranteed upon completion of this program.

Base tuition fee (for two semesters - 1 year):

  • 19,850 CAD for international students

Additional fees:

  • Application Fee - 110 CAD 
  • Incidental Fees (student ID, student association membership, etc) - 2,000 CAD 
  • Mandatory Health Insurance - 790 CAD for 1 year coverage

Requirements for applicants

Admission Requirements

  • College advanced diploma (three-year) or bachelor's degree or demonstrated relevant work experience (resumé and references required).

English language proficiency

  • George Brown English for Academic Purposes (EAP) Program - Level 8;
  • IELTS (Academic) - 6.0, minimum 5.5 in each skill band;
  • TOEFL - 80 (online) minimum 20 in each skill band;
  • Duolingo English Test - 105;
  • MELAB - 80;
  • PTE (Academic) - 54, overall minimum, 50 in each skill band;
  • CAEL - 60 (overall);
  • Cambridge English Exams (B2 First, C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency) - 169 or more (with no individual skill below 162).
