Program description

For almost 30 years, George Brown College has provided a highly effective nutrition curriculum. We'll help you hone your cooking chops by educating you about food science, clinical nutrition, human anatomy and physiology, nutritional analysis, and food safety. You'll get hands-on experience and classroom training in the ways that healthcare facilities including hospitals, nursing homes, and assisted living centers feed and care for their patients and residents.

The Canadian Society for Nutrition Management has recognized this excellent nutrition program as meeting the standards for Food and Nutrition management certification in Ontario.

Base tuition fee (for two semesters - 1 year):

Additional fees:

  • Application Fee - 110 CAD 
  • Incidental Fees (student ID, student association membership, etc) - 2,000 CAD 
  • Mandatory Health Insurance - 790 CAD for 1 year coverage
  • Knives and small wares - 500-700 CAD
  • Books - 400 CAD
  • Black Safety Shoes - 110-160 CAD

Requirements for applicants

Admission Requirements

  • culinary apprenticeship, certificate, diploma or bachelor’s degree in Culinary or Hospitality Management
  • demonstrated experience (resumé required)
  • online interview

Note: A degree in a nutrition-related discipline will be considered, which must include marketing and accounting courses. If you do not have these courses on your current transcript, you will be required to complete them during the course of the program to graduate.

English language proficiency

  • George Brown English for Academic Purposes (EAP) Program - Level 8;
  • IELTS (Academic) - 6.0, minimum 5.5 in each skill band;
  • TOEFL - 80 (online) minimum 20 in each skill band;
  • Duolingo English Test - 105;
  • MELAB - 80;
  • PTE (Academic) - 54, overall minimum, 50 in each skill band;
  • CAEL - 60 (overall);
  • Cambridge English Exams (B2 First, C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency) - 169 or more (with no individual skill below 162).
