Program description
The Architectural Technology advanced diploma program at Humber will teach you how to apply your logical and critical thinking skills to construction and building design.
You will be taught by award-winning professors and licensed architects who will provide you with real-world experience and significant industry contacts. The curriculum was created with industry input to ensure that you are learning current and relevant topics. You will learn the following during the program:
- computer-aided design, construction procedures, and project management using cutting-edge software such as Revit (Building Information Modelling), AutoCAD, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Indesign, and SketchUP.
- wood frame, steel, masonry and precast concrete, mass timber, and hybrid systems construction technologies
- building code, building specifications, estimating, construction contract administration, and structural and environmental systems are all examples of hands-on abilities.
- sustainable architecture, passive house design, and net zero design and construction technologies are required in the architectural technology industry to reduce carbon emissions and the impact of climate change.
Visual representation, history of architecture, building science, site planning, and technical communications are among the topics covered in the courses. Bath and kitchen design, interior details, building code (legal), small building residential design, and other options are available as electives.

Requirements for applicants
International Academic Equivalencies:
- Certificate of Secondary Education with a minimum grade of four in required subjects
- Transcripts for any post-secondary courses or programs completed or
- College or university transfer status
For Indian applicants one of the following:
- All India Senior School Certificate/Higher Secondary School Certificate
- Year 12 State Board Exams with a minimum grade of 70 or above in required program subjects.
To be eligible you must possess the equivalent of an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) and required courses.
English Proficiency requirements are:
- A minimum TOEFL Academic Level score of 550 (paper based) or 80 (internet based) or
- an IELTS with an overall minimum score of 6.0 (with no single band score below 5.5) or
- CAEL with an overall band score of 60 or
- Cambridge English Test with B2 First / C1 Advanced / C2 Proficiency 169 (with no single subscore below 162) or
- Duolingo Language Test with score 105 and above+
- International applicants may be asked to submit an ICAS or WES evaluation.
