Program description
The advanced diploma program in Child and teens Care at Humber equips you to support children, teens, and their families in reaching their full potential. Students gain expertise in need assessment, program design and implementation, and planned settings. Additionally, students will learn how to encourage and facilitate good transformation through planned interventions and everyday life experiences. Fundamental knowledge about baby, child, and adolescent development, family dynamics, child and youth care relational practice principles, evidence-based or evidence-informed intervention modalities, group dynamics, cultural humility, and therapeutic activities are all imparted in this curriculum.
With many courses stressing self-reflection and the classroom serving as a professional practice setting, you will discover that self-awareness is a crucial aspect of professional practice. Working with children and teens who have complicated needs will require you to be emotionally mature and have a high energy level.
Our curriculum is taught by award-winning instructors who are experts in their fields and hold graduate degrees in addition to current, relevant experience. The program's therapeutic play lab, which promotes experience learning, is one of its main features.
