Humber's Design Foundation certificate program teaches you how to focus your creativity as you begin your design study.
If you have a strong interest in visual art and design yet want to improve or expand your portfolio, or explore different design disciplines while thinking about your future profession, this is the program for you. With extensive experience in a wide range of design disciplines, our faculty gives you with an industry-current perspective on your work while also providing you with a broad-based preparatory design education. While constructing and polishing a comprehensive portfolio, you will discover design skills, techniques, and processes, as well as learn about numerous professional career options.
Professional designers from a number of areas lead your training, which includes courses in:

Requirements for applicants
International Academic Equivalencies:
- Certificate of Secondary Education with a minimum grade of four in required subjects
- Transcripts for any post-secondary courses or programs completed or
- College or university transfer status
For Indian applicants one of the following:
- All India Senior School Certificate/Higher Secondary School Certificate
- Year 12 State Board Exams with a minimum grade of 70 or above in required program subjects.
To be eligible you must possess the equivalent of an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) and required courses.
English Proficiency requirements are:
- A minimum TOEFL Academic Level score of 550 (paper based) or 80 (internet based) or
- an IELTS with an overall minimum score of 6.0 (with no single band score below 5.5) or
- CAEL with an overall band score of 60 or
- Cambridge English Test with B2 First / C1 Advanced / C2 Proficiency 169 (with no single subscore below 162) or
- Duolingo Language Test with score 105 and above+
- International applicants may be asked to submit an ICAS or WES evaluation.
