Program description
The Forensic Identification graduate certificate program is unique in Ontario; it teaches students cutting-edge forensic techniques and information that are in high demand in both public and commercial laboratories and police departments. The program's innovative hands-on approach offers specialized content taught by experts using cutting-edge criminal forensic equipment, and it's tailored to students who want to work as frontline investigators. You will learn how to create and analyze sophisticated fingerprints, how to physically match tool marks and footwear, how to profile DNA and blood, how to examine fraudulent documents, how to handle crime and catastrophe scenes, how to carry out trials, and the rules of evidence.
Our training is conducted at the Humber Centre for Justice Leadership's state-of-the-art forensic lab and crime scene studio. The state-of-the-art facility houses a simulation lab where simulated crime scenes are processed using forensic imaging, fingerprinting, digital crime scene mapping, and other cutting-edge evidence collection methods. You can also practice your interviewing skills in one of the four labs located inside the Centre. Our fake courtroom is the last stop before you demonstrate your mastery of forensic investigative techniques.
