Program description

The Advertising and Marketing Communications diploma program at Humber will give you skills in supplier management, fundamental production, introductory design, presentation, and promotional writing in addition to organizational abilities. You'll gain a clear understanding of the range of career options by enrolling in courses in project coordination, public relations, marketing communications, and advertising.

With a focus on media planning, this program aims to equip you with the skills necessary to collaborate with advertising creatives such as copywriters, graphic and interactive designers, art directors, and suppliers. Working with Humber's internal agency, BuildingF, will present chances for you to collaborate with colleagues on practical briefs and begin developing your professional network.

The Advertising and Graphic Design, Journalism, Public Relations, and Media Communications diploma programs share your first semester, allowing you the flexibility to refocus your studies in the second semester.

Requirements for applicants

International Academic Equivalencies:

  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent including these required courses:
    • Grade 12 English (ENG4C or ENG4U or equivalent)
    • Three Grade 11 or Grade 12 C, M or U courses in addition to those listed above

or

  • Mature student status

or

  • College or university transfer status

For Indian applicants one of the following:

  • All India Senior School Certificate/Higher Secondary School Certificate
  • Year 12 State Board Exams with a minimum grade of 70 or above in required program subjects.
  • Applicants who previously completed post-secondary education require to provide backlog summary. Maximum backlog attempts accepted:
    • Bachelor’s degree 3 year: 2 backlog attempts
    • Bachelor’s degree 4 year: 4 backlog attempts
    • Master’s degree: no restriction
    • 10 + 3 Curriculum: 4 backlog attempts

To be eligible you must possess the equivalent of an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) and required courses as noted in the course list.

English Proficiency requirements are:

  • A minimum TOEFL Academic Level score of 550 (paper based) or 80 (internet based) or
  • an IELTS with an overall minimum score of 6.0 (with no single band score below 5.5) or
  • CAEL with an overall band score of 60 or
  • Cambridge English Test with B2 First / C1 Advanced / C2 Proficiency 169 (with no single subscore below 162) or
  • Duolingo Language Test with score 105 and above+
  • International applicants may be asked to submit an ICAS or WES evaluation.
