Program description
Humber's Protection, Security, and Investigation diploma program prepares you to attract companies in the booming professions of private/corporate security and public safety.
You will learn from industry specialists how to conduct investigations, criminal and intelligence analysis, security systems, and dispute resolution utilizing cutting-edge technology.
Small class sizes improve courses that are tailored to meet current requirements and mix theory with hands-on learning experiences. You will learn how to employ tactics and technology for protection, security, and investigation to accurately monitor, assess, and document behaviors, circumstances, and occurrences, as well as gather, preserve, and present admissible evidence. You will also learn about public relations, dispute resolution, and how to act justly when working with diverse communities.
This curriculum is designed to address the demand for graduates with competence in protection, security, and investigation, as well as a good understanding of Canada's criminal and civil justice systems.

Requirements for applicants
International Academic Equivalencies:
- Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent including these required courses:
- Grade 12 English (ENG4C or ENG4U or equivalent)
- Grade 12 Mathematics (MAP4C, MCT4C, MDM4U, MCB4U, MGA4U, MCV4U or MHF4U or equivalent)
- Grade 11 or 12 Biology (SBI3C, SBI3U or SBI4U or equivalent)
- Grade 11 or 12 Chemistry (SCH3U, SCH4C or SCH4U or equivalent)
or
- Mature student status
or
- College or university transfer status
For Indian applicants one of the following:
- All India Senior School Certificate/Higher Secondary School Certificate
- Year 12 State Board Exams with a minimum grade of 70 or above in required program subjects.
- Applicants who previously completed post-secondary education require to provide backlog summary. Maximum backlog attempts accepted:
- Bachelor’s degree 3 year: 2 backlog attempts
- Bachelor’s degree 4 year: 4 backlog attempts
- Master’s degree: no restriction
- 10 + 3 Curriculum: 4 backlog attempts
To be eligible you must possess the equivalent of an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) and required courses as noted in the course list.
English Proficiency requirements are:
- A minimum TOEFL Academic Level score of 550 (paper based) or 80 (internet based) or
- an IELTS with an overall minimum score of 6.0 (with no single band score below 5.5) or
- CAEL with an overall band score of 60 or
- Cambridge English Test with B2 First / C1 Advanced / C2 Proficiency 169 (with no single subscore below 162) or
- Duolingo Language Test with score 105 and above+
- International applicants may be asked to submit an ICAS or WES evaluation.
