Humber's Broadcast Television/Videography (BRTV) diploma program will quickly equip you for technical operation and production responsibilities in media content creation. An in-depth look behind-the-scenes at broadcasting will provide you with a solid foundation in video production abilities and broadcast standards. This program is a great place to start if you want to work behind the scenes in television production. It offers a wide range of courses as well as field experience opportunities, preparing graduates for success in the broadcast profession.

Live studio and live remote broadcasting will be covered, as well as single camera location shooting, video editing and audio mixing, and writing, planning, and producing content. Access to Humber's high-definition television mobile truck, the most advanced of its sort among Ontario universities, will enhance your hands-on broadcasting study. This compact 35-foot television studio is outfitted with cutting-edge broadcast technology such as the latest cameras, video production switcher, digital recording system, broadcast graphics software, and editing capabilities. Humber is well-known in the television broadcasting industry. Humber Hawks varsity games and esport tournaments, fashion events, and live music are all regularly produced and live streamed by BRTV students.

Requirements for applicants

International Academic Equivalencies:

  • Certificate of Secondary Education with a minimum grade of four in required subjects
  • Transcripts for any post-secondary courses or programs completed or
  • College or university transfer status

For Indian applicants one of the following:

  • All India Senior School Certificate/Higher Secondary School Certificate
  • Year 12 State Board Exams with a minimum grade of 70 or above in required program subjects.

To be eligible you must possess the equivalent of an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) and required courses.

English Proficiency requirements are:

  • A minimum TOEFL Academic Level score of 550 (paper based) or 80 (internet based) or
  • an IELTS with an overall minimum score of 6.0 (with no single band score below 5.5) or
  • CAEL with an overall band score of 60 or
  • Cambridge English Test with B2 First / C1 Advanced / C2 Proficiency 169 (with no single subscore below 162) or
  • Duolingo Language Test with score 105 and above+
  • International applicants may be asked to submit an ICAS or WES evaluation.
