Program description

Within the Carpentry-Construction category, Humber offers three stackable diploma programs, the first of which is for Building Construction Technicians. The curriculum offers students practical experience with trade rules and best practices in addition to an introduction to the carpentry trade and the Construction Engineering Technology advanced diploma. Students can also earn a certificate in Carpentry and Renovation Techniques. This diploma program will allow students to transfer into the advanced diploma program.

Along with learning how to examine construction plans and conduct work in conformity with contractual duties, codes, applicable laws, bylaws, standards, and ethical practices, you will also learn about worksite health and safety measures in line with legislation and regulations. There will be coursework on sustainable practices.

In compliance with project standards, you will also learn how to create project designs and documentation, help with estimating preparation, and handle tools securely. You'll be ready for every phase of construction, from designing the site and installing the footings to applying the interior and exterior finishes.
