Program description
Humber's Esthetician/Spa Management diploma program teaches business and hands-on skills for the $119 billion spa industry (Global Wellness Institute, 2018). On the business side, master the essentials of business writing, marketing, retail operation and day-to-day spa management. Hands-on lessons cover nail care, face methods, waxing, body treatments, and cosmetics. You'll study OxyGeneo, microdermabrasion, chemical peels, RF, LED, laser, and IPL (IPL).
The Humber Spa, a simulated work environment and retail boutique, allows students to practice and develop their talents. Working under the guidance of qualified lab technicians, you will manage the administrative functions of the spa, including frontline responsibilities, retail operations and providing spa services. You'll give facials, hand, foot, and body treatments.
In the first semester, you'll learn spa management and customer services, skin physiology and professional skin care, and esthetic skills. Second semester: computer applications, advanced face procedures, waxing, nail care. Later, you'll study marketing, new business development, HRM, and medical spa services.

Requirements for applicants
International Academic Equivalencies:
- Certificate of Secondary Education with a minimum grade of four in required subjects
- Transcripts for any post-secondary courses or programs completed or
- College or university transfer status
For Indian applicants one of the following:
- All India Senior School Certificate/Higher Secondary School Certificate
- Year 12 State Board Exams with a minimum grade of 70 or above in required program subjects.
To be eligible you must possess the equivalent of an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) and required courses.
English Proficiency requirements are:
- A minimum TOEFL Academic Level score of 550 (paper based) or 80 (internet based) or
- an IELTS with an overall minimum score of 6.0 (with no single band score below 5.5) or
- CAEL with an overall band score of 60 or
- Cambridge English Test with B2 First / C1 Advanced / C2 Proficiency 169 (with no single subscore below 162) or
- Duolingo Language Test with score 105 and above+
- International applicants may be asked to submit an ICAS or WES evaluation.
