Program description
The Media Communications diploma program at Humber is designed to fulfill industry demands in a variety of areas of the communications industry. Students graduate with marketable abilities in photography, graphic design, online design and writing, social media, and videography.
The program will teach you how to:
- be capable of telling excellent transmedia stories across numerous platforms
- create corporate video and audio for the web and other uses
- effective website design, writing, and editing
- capture professional photographic photographs both in the studio and on location
- use contemporary software applications such as Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, and Premiere Pro to create and edit content
- create, run, and advertise your business with a freelance and project management training.
- media kits, blogs, and brochures are examples of communications that need research, writing, and design
Courses are designed with industry input to ensure you are learning current and relevant knowledge in cutting-edge labs from industry specialists - people who understand trends and effective communication approaches.
This program's first semester is shared with the two-year Advertising and Graphic Design diploma, the three-year Journalism advanced diploma, the two-year Advertising and Marketing Communications diploma, and the three-year Public Relations advanced diploma programs, giving students the option of continuing in any of these five programs in the second semester.

Requirements for applicants
International Academic Equivalencies:
- Certificate of Secondary Education with a minimum grade of four in required subjects
- Transcripts for any post-secondary courses or programs completed or
- College or university transfer status
For Indian applicants one of the following:
- All India Senior School Certificate/Higher Secondary School Certificate
- Year 12 State Board Exams with a minimum grade of 70 or above in required program subjects.
To be eligible you must possess the equivalent of an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) and required courses.
English Proficiency requirements are:
- A minimum TOEFL Academic Level score of 550 (paper based) or 80 (internet based) or
- an IELTS with an overall minimum score of 6.0 (with no single band score below 5.5) or
- CAEL with an overall band score of 60 or
- Cambridge English Test with B2 First / C1 Advanced / C2 Proficiency 169 (with no single subscore below 162) or
- Duolingo Language Test with score 105 and above+
- International applicants may be asked to submit an ICAS or WES evaluation.
