Program description
A paralegal with an Ontario Law Society license may handle the theoretical, procedural, and advocacy facets of law, all of which are covered in Humber's Paralegal Education diploma program. In the fields of advocacy, legal research, and certain courts and administrative tribunals, you will pick up specific practical skills. A wide range of boards and tribunals, including employment law, small claims court cases, criminal summary convictions, provincial offenses, business, landlord and tenant, and alternative conflict resolution are all covered in the course of study. Engaging in role plays, presentations, mock trials, and class discussions will help students strengthen their oral advocacy abilities.
Courses in bookkeeping, business planning, entrepreneurship, ethics, and professional conduct guidelines equip you with the skills necessary to launch and run your own paralegal firm.
Throughout the course of the program, you will strengthen your communication abilities, especially in spoken and written English, which will be crucial for your future employment. To graduate, students must show proficiency in oral presentations given in small and large groups, including role plays and mock trials.
Our advisory board guarantees that our curriculum is up to date and satisfies stringent industry standards.
