Program description
The department of English Language and Literature provides advanced education in English Language and Literature by exposing students to modern linguistic and literary methods, comparative approaches, and universal views.
Our Master's Degree programme at Istanbul Aydn University's Social Sciences Institute seeks to encourage students to develop critical thinking, persuasive communication skills, and a comprehensive perspective on English language and literature.
Students holding a bachelor's degree in English Language and Literature or other (un)related subjects are welcome as long as they exhibit English competency. Those who do not qualify must complete at least one semester of no-credit preparation courses at the bachelor's degree level that will not count toward their Master's degree. A total of at least 24 local credits, as well as at least 8 courses and a seminar, make up the 60 ECTS course work required for a master's degree programme with thesis. The completion of this 120 ECTS programme requires a thesis worth 60 ECTS credits.
The programme is modular, with elective courses. Students may take elective courses from other related fields if their advisors permit. The fact that the English Language and Literature department's teaching faculty has diverse backgrounds and specialities adds to the program's appeal.
The English Language and Literature programme seeks to teach professors and staff in English Language and Literature as well as providing research possibilities for individuals who are academically active.
