Program description
We are one of the top research centers in London for social care, public health, nursing, midwifery, and related health professions. According to the Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2014, 80% of our studies on nursing and allied health professions received the highest quality ratings of 4* or 3* for "impact" in reach and importance.
Come and take advantage of our monthly doctorate support program, where you may network with fellow scholars at varying stages of their research and receive learning-oriented sessions and peer support. The Central Research Office also hosts an active yearly Summer School and organizes development seminars for LSBU's research students.
A PhD is by definition a unique contribution to the field of study. It differs from a taught master's program in that, instead of coursework and tests based on modules, your final product will be an extended dissertation or creative project related to your area of interest.
It is expected of research students to manage their own education with guidance from a team of supervisors.
Education takes place on Southwark Campus
Program structure
Research skills development
Participation in a Key abilities Development program, which aims to build transferable abilities in addition to those used in research execution, is mandatory for all research students. Research seminars are a regular source of training in research methodology.
When appropriate, the research student may partially complete pertinent Masters courses offered by the School, particularly those with a focus on research methods. Research students are sometimes advised to enroll in additional courses offered by the university or by other organizations in order to broaden their general knowledge in the fields they have selected.
Furthermore, students can be urged to enroll in language programs that enhance their written and spoken communication abilities, which are critical for their future employment.
Transferable skills
Having a research degree will provide you a lot of useful abilities. For practically every kind of employment, self-discipline, the need for precise analytical thinking, and the capacity to transform constructive criticism into original work are all necessary components of a special education. Discovering novel information, a fresh perspective, or some new facts may be rather exciting and satisfying.
Attending conferences
In order to share their research findings and network with top scientists in their disciplines, research students frequently receive funding to travel to national and worldwide conferences. The University's Research Degree Committee formally keeps track of each research student's progress.Price
Fee for two semester (1 year education) is 16900.00 pounds sterling for international students
