Program description
The Master of Occupational Health and Safety (MOHS) programme is an interdisciplinary programme that offers advanced-level study in a variety of occupational health and safety topics. The programme is the first of its kind in the Atlantic area and the fourth in Canada, and it is based on expertise developed at Memorial University over the last decade. The initiative is a direct response to high demand from both inside the province and throughout Canada.
The MOHS programme is intended to provide students, safety officers, loss prevention specialists, and human relations managers with analytic frameworks and current knowledge that can be used as a foundation for future advanced academic study or higher level professional careers in regulatory agencies, industry, government, and stakeholder organisations. This programme does not qualify for funding.
The course offerings will cover a wide range of occupational health and safety issues from a broadly interdisciplinary standpoint, with a focus on the history and social science of OHS, workplace organisation, epidemiology, treatment and prevention of occupational injuries and diseases, ergonomics, and occupational hygiene.
