Program description
Students in the Humanities can expect to be exposed to a wide range of representative problems in human culture's history and contemporary scene; educated in significant methods and modes of interpretation that apply to a wide range of such problems; and engaged in an ongoing discussion about major values and human trends. Humanities is concerned with the human condition in the past, present, and future. The human condition encompasses both the natural world, of which we are a part, and the social, economic, and cultural realms that we have created.
The Master of Philosophy programme in Humanities is an interdisciplinary teaching and research programme housed in Memorial University's Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.

Requirements for applicants
- Bachelor's degree (minimum second class honours) in one or more of the Humanities disciplines
Applicants who did not complete a baccalaureate or post-graduate degree at a recognized university where English is the primary language of instruction must normally complete either the:
- Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) and achieve a paper-based score of 580 (or higher), computer-based score of 237 (or higher), or internet-based score of 92-93 (or higher); or
- International English Language Testing System (IELTS) and achieve a score of 7 (or higher).
