Program description
The innovative Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) Musical Theatre program at NYFA provides budding actors with practical instruction and experience to help them achieve their artistic aspirations in the performing arts. The stage and screen of musical theater, two of the most important aspects of the performing arts business, are combined in this four-year, eight-semester curriculum.
Students get practical instruction in all performance-based genres from a staff of experts who are actively involved in the Broadway, dance, voiceover, television, and film industries. Our curriculum is specially created to provide students with the chance to refine their abilities in New York City, the primary location for beginning careers in musical theater.
Students take part in a wide number of workshops throughout the program that are designed to help them discover their inner actor, develop their voice and physical range, and teach them the emotional, physical, and technical skills required for good stage and on-camera acting. Mainstage plays, readings and staged workshops of new works, open mic evenings, scene presentations, masterclasses, showcases, in-class production work, and cinematic musical exercises are a few examples of audition and performance options.
