Program description
In this course, you will investigate the changing nature of photography's function in the twenty-first century while forging your own photographic identity. In this course, theoretical learning is combined with practical photography instruction. The primary subjects of our instruction are photography as a career and as a visual language suitable for the creative sectors. This course will assist you in creating a professional practice that is driven by your interests.
The course is flexible, with the opportunity to specialise in:

- documentary
- contemporary art practice
You'll study moving picture production, concept generation, social media, analogue, and darkroom abilities. You'll learn from creative industry leaders. You'll develop technical, creative, and communicative abilities while learning photography as a 21st-century visual language.
The course has strong ties to the creative industries on a local, national, and international level. These connections provide a wealth of knowledge and support, as well as vital first-hand experiences of professional life and viewpoints during the course of the three years.
Photographic practice, publishing, marketing, television, film, post-production, design studios, social media, photo editor/researcher, curation, press relations, and teaching are a few possible career paths.

Requirements for applicants
General Entry Requirements
- Acceptable passes in five subjects (exceptionally four subjects) at GCSE or GCE including:
- one 12-unit vocational A-level, or
- two A-levels or two 6-unit vocational A-levels, or
- one A-level or 6-unit vocational A-level plus two AS-levels, or
- two 3-unit vocational A-levels
- A National Certificate or Diploma at a good standard.
- The International Baccalaureate Diploma (minimum of 24 points) or the European Baccalaureate Diploma (minimum of 60%).
- Five subjects in SCE with two at Higher level or one at Advanced Higher level.
- Three subjects in Scottish Highers or two at Advanced Higher level.
- Any other qualifications considered by the Academic Board to be of equivalent standard.
English language requirements
- IELTS level 6.0 overall with 6.0 in reading and writing, 5.5 in listening and speaking
