Program description
Students who complete the FdSc in Animal Therapy and Rehabilitation are prepared to work with sick, injured, and recovering animals in places including veterinary offices, animal collections, and animal welfare organizations. Although there are a variety of tiny and large species, the focus is on dogs (dogs, cats, poultry, horses, pigs, cattle, sheep and small mammals).
Before conducting their own independent research project, students acquire practical skills in animal husbandry and handling, learn about a variety of therapies (such as hydrotherapy, emergency management, massage, pre-treatment health checks, electro-therapies, laser, ultrasound, use of cold, touch, and environmental therapies, and homeopathy), and gain industrial experience.
Graduates have the option of moving forward directly into this quickly expanding field or taking our BSc top-up.
