Program description
Interior architecture combines the skills of interior design, architecture, and social science. Its flexible methodology enables a change in emphasis from the evaluation of the "subjective" experience of the users to the design of "objects" (buildings and furniture).
The process by which the interiors of buildings and public spaces are designed to support human activities, in a variety of crafted environments that maintain a sustainable relation with the communities they serve, is referred to as interior architecture. It is known as the "spatial art of environmental design".
Each successful applicant must demonstrate a knowledge of design effects as evaluated in "actual" situations through a portfolio of social research work, even if design proficiency is not a prerequisite for admission to this program.
Graduates of the MA Interior Architecture program will be skilled at making the transition from quantitative sustainability indicators to qualitative experiential parameters.
Moreover, they will be able to offer comprehensive people-focused design competences and customized solutions to meet the shifting needs of users.
