Program description
To help you hone your urban design skills, our MA in Urban Design combines theory and design practice.
Urban Design is relevant to every location dealing with current global concerns. It combines the processes by which geography produces form and the socioeconomic forces that mold the urban environment. It ties together philosophy, practice, and urban life.
You'll be with foreign students from planning, architecture, and landscape architecture. Professional practitioners and research teachers will help you in design studios. You can construct liveable environments for tomorrow using your urban design skills. You'll also engage with contemporary and future urban issues such as:
- intensification and population growth
- climate change
- cultural design context
- biodiversity and landscape urbanism
- affordable housing
- urban public realm in the digital age

Specific Entry Requirements
- The course is open to applicants who hold a 2.1 undergraduate honours degree (or international equivalent) in a related design & planning discipline.
- We will actively consider applications from candidates with lower degrees or an alternative subject, who can provide a suitable portfolio and/or evidence relevant work experience.
English Language Requirements
- If your first language is not English you will require a minimum IELTS score of 6.0 overall with 6.0 in all components.
