Program description
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) can impair a person's ability to communicate, socialize, and perform well at home, school, and in their society. Language, social and play skills, self-help abilities, academics, motor skills, life skills, and proper behavior can all be developed with Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA).
Students in this highly specialized curriculum learn to examine relevant research, devise intervention plans, administer programs, and gather data to ensure intervention tactics effectively meet specified goals.
Graduates:
- Understand the whole spectrum of ASD and how human development happens in the neurotypical population.
- Learn about the many evidence-based strategies for autism treatment.
- Understand how to administer curriculum-based and functional evaluations;
- Based on the evaluation results, you can develop, implement, and monitor interventions.
- Understand the ethical and professional responsibilities of working in the ABA area.
- Demonstrate workplace leadership by sharing knowledge and skills for effective ASD treatment solutions.
Students can expect a heavy workload because this is a graduate certificate program. Classes blend theory with hands-on learning and group projects. Field postings are available in a variety of settings, some of which may necessitate the use of a car.
