Program description
The program in General Construction Carpentry Techniques equips students with many of the tools they'll need to construct a new house or building, or to restore an older one.
Students gain experience in drawing plans, working from blueprints, designing structures, and evaluating job locations. They learn all aspects of carpentry, from laying the foundation to framing a building to applying the final touches on the inside and outside.
The curriculum also emphasizes the use of green and sustainable building techniques.
Students hone their abilities on a large-scale construction or renovation job in their final semester.

- Ontario Secondary School Diploma, or equivalent
- Grade 12 English at the C, U or E level
- Grade 11 Math at the C, U or M level

- International English Language Testing System (IELTS)-Academic - Overall 6.5 with no band less than 6.0
- TOEFL Internet-based Test (iBT) or Home Edition - 83
- TOEFL Computer-based Test - 220
- Canadian Academic English Language (CAEL. In-person or Online)* - overall 60
- EIKEN (Test in Practical English Proficiency)* - pre 1
- The Michigan English Test* - Overall 62 with no individual score below 60, ECCE/ECPE 650 or higher
