Program description
The exciting range of fields and professions in media, design, and the arts is open to students in this one-year certificate program in Media Arts Fundamentals.
The program's foundational courses cover professional communications, digital media applications, and academic preparation, while the program's media-arts electives can be applied toward two- and three-year diplomas in fields like Graphic Design, Visual & Creative Arts - Fine Arts, Music & Digital Media, Advertising & Marketing Communications, and General Arts & Science.
In the final semester, students take courses that help them develop their professional identity, learn about various employment options in the media arts, and assemble a portfolio that they can use to apply to schools or jobs that interest them. Admission requirements
- Ontario Secondary School Diploma, or equivalent
- Grade 12 English at the C or U level
- Grade 11 Math at the C, U or M level
English Proficiency requirements are:
- International English Language Testing System (IELTS)-Academic - Overall 6.5 with no band less than 6.0
- TOEFL Internet-based Test (iBT) or Home Edition - 83
- TOEFL Computer-based Test - 220
- Canadian Academic English Language (CAEL. In-person or Online)* - overall 60
- EIKEN (Test in Practical English Proficiency)* - pre 1
- The Michigan English Test* - Overall 62 with no individual score below 60, ECCE/ECPE 650 or higher
- Cambridge English Proficiency* - 180
- Duolingo (Temporarily accepted)* - 115
- Pearson Test of English -Academic (Online & In-person) - 60
